Foundation of the company 1945 from Mr. Guenther Schell.

Former Company- targets: Refurbishing of electricity household meters, additionally manufacturing and selling of coin-operated meters.

The business of refurbishing of the old rotation-plate meters was the main business during about more than 50 years, with a growing of business- course.

Company-targets of the last 10 years: Expansion of business-value through manufacturing and sales of DIN-rail mounted electronic meters and development of pre-payment meters and remote controlled meters with hard- and software.

Günther Schell GmbH & Co. KG, the history:

1945 Founded by the businessman Günther Schell as private Company based in Hamburg; the mechanical workshop used to recondition and set-up electro-mechanical meters Ferraris type, obtained from Electricity Boards.

1986 Moved from Hamburg to Ahrensburg the new mainquarters are now nearby Hamburg. The production of coin-operated meters really took-off. They are distributed worldwide under their proper brandname SCHELLKA. Over 500 coin-operated meters are produced and sold monthly. On the top of it are added the time and power control electronic units. Their hudge market is directed towards washing machines and solar panel manufactures.

1990 Start-up of an engineering office for research development and assembly of electrical equipments with Joachim Schell´s 50 % participation as shareholder.

1996 Decision was taken to begin with new larger premises in Ahrensburg as the sales volumes of the past years strongly grown up and the old factory had not enough space to comply with the new activities.

1999 In spring the decision to complete program with new electronic energy meters under the registered name SCHELLCOUNT is taken.

To start with Brand labelled meters produced by a sister Company of e.on - Bayern AG Group. Theses meters found very good acceptance in the worldwide market.

2003 By taking over the activities of ENSECO / e.on sister´s Company IPR - GmbH, mid of the year, a new challenge was taken. The research and development´s up to that date on modular electronic meters for DIN rail fixing were steadily continued up to production maturity. Based on this Investment the business volume of the SCHELL- Company is now about € 8,5 Mio. approx. The part of the modular meters is now over 50 % of the total value. Well sized Market Prices, high innovative sense as well as highest quality standards are best guaranty to satisfy the increasing world market demand for these meters.

2005 The ELTAKO - Company has bought the rights on the label "SchellCount" electronic energymeters and now the SCHELL- Company is the largest distributor of the ELTAKO - Company. That deal was the reason to invest the financial capital in new developments as like pre-payment-meters, hard- and software as well as more other products like bollards for the business-area campsites, marinas, publicplaces etc.

This business-area is growing up very strong and is trendy Pre-payment meters are sold mostly in Germany for application for communities, campsites and marinas.

3 years ago Günther Schell GmbH & Co. KG has developed a new wallmounted electronic meter range under the brand ELMET with its engineers and partners. The idea was born to create an approved replacement for the old-fashion rotationplate-meter with high quality standard and very competitive prices to the market.
